Entrepreneurship and financial literacy organization for multicultural women to host event discussing capital raising strategies
Washington, D.C. – April 20, 2018: Envolve Entrepreneurship CEO, Christopher Upperman will join Walker’s Legacy Founder and CEO, Natalie Madeira Cofield, Amalgamated Bank, and WeWork to host a Financial Prosperity Summit targeted at professional and entrepreneurial multicultural women.  Attendees will learn about essential business financing tools to make the best decisions for their entrepreneurial ventures. The event will take place on Friday, April 27, 2018, from 11am-1pm in New York City at WeWork Bryant Park.

The summit will explore personal financial management and wealth building tools for professionals and entrepreneurs. Speaking of the event, CEO Christopher Upperman stated, “These interactive sessions are critical to entrepreneurs and individuals interested in starting business ventures. Sessions are a great way to learn about the resources and opportunities available to establish and scale a business.”

Over the last 20 years, the growth of women-owned businesses in the USA has increased exponentially, and women of color have turned to entrepreneurship at an extraordinary rate. While the number of women-owned businesses grew 114% from 1997 to 2017, firms owned by women of color grew at more than four times that rate (467%) according to American Express’ 2017 State of Women-Owned Business Report. Envolve Entrepreneurship is poised to provide the entrepreneurial training programs, access to capital and advocacy imperative to support this growing demographic of business leaders.

In addition to Envolve CEO, Christopher Upperman, the business fireside chat will feature Dixiana Berrios, Executive Vice President, Amalgamated Bank and Charlie O’Donnell, Partner, and Founder, Brooklyn Bridge Ventures.  The panelists will discuss the topics most relevant to small businesses, exploring traditional loan choices, recoverable grant opportunities from philanthropic dollars, small business tax credits, and most importantly how individuals can take advantage of these options throughout the marketplace.

“Walker’s Legacy is proud to continue our work of engaging, educating, equipping multicultural women entrepreneurs and professionals with partners like Envolve Entrepreneurship” said Natalie Madeira Cofield, Founder and CEO, Walker’s Legacy. “Our joint commitment to providing resources and information to this growing segment of business allows more women in business to thrive.”

“We’re excited to partner with Walker’s Legacy and look forward to continuing work in the future. Access to actionable and relevant information within the marketplace opens new doors, and our intent is for women business leaders to be successful and accomplish every goal in pursuit of their entrepreneurial dreams,” added Christopher.
